Irving Takes Action Due to Coronavirus Declaration

Dallas County has declared a disaster for public health and issued an order banning mass gatherings of 500 or greater. The county also strongly discourages gatherings of 250 or more people, as well as strongly discouraging gatherings of 10+ people of high-risk groups, such as the elderly and those with chronic conditions. This declaration and order will remain in effect through 11 a.m. March 20. In addition to the order on mass gatherings, the county emphasizes the importance to maintain a social distance of 6 feet.

As a result the City of Irving has taken the following actions:

  • Heritage Senior Center is closed until March 27. This includes the Heritage Senior Center pool, and all associated activities/events.
  • All City of Irving fitness facilities are closed until March 27.
  • Pickleball is suspended until further notice.
  • Irving Parks and Recreation programs, classes, camps, activities and other recreation center events (minus those scheduled at Heritage Senior Center) will go on as scheduled.
  • Irving Library programs are canceled from March 14 to March 29.
  • No determination has been made for any other scheduled special events or activities.
  • Anyone planning to attend any events such as concerts, conferences, etc. needs to contact the event organizer for information concerning cancellations or rescheduling.
