Irving offers childcare providers business assistance during disaster

Beginning Aug. 7, eligible licensed early childhood centers and homes within Irving that have been impacted financially by COVID-19 can receive micro-grants up to $5,000. The application period runs through Nov. 30, 2020, or until funds are exhausted. Download the flier.

Along with funds provided by Dallas County and the Dallas Foundation, Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas (WFSDallas) has created the Child Care Provider Catalyst Fund. The city received funding from Dallas County through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and allocated $500,000 to help support and sustain eligible childcare providers through the COVID-19 crisis.

WFSDallas administers the program and assists childcare providers with the application process. Micro-grants are distributed through the third-party contractor ChildCareGroup to help support, sustain and ramp-up operations.

The City of Irving’s $5,000 micro-grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible childcare providers must meet the following funding criteria:

  • Located in the City of Irving.
  • Registered or licensed through Texas Health and Human Services.
  • In existence as of Jan. 1, 2020.
  • Current in the payment of all City of Irving taxes.
  • Providing childcare services to children of covered essential workers.
  • Demonstrate a loss of at least 25% in income since March 1, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
