A recent salary study released by the United Educators Association (UEA) shows that Irving ISD takes care of its longest serving teachers. Among the 48 districts surveyed in the DFW metroplex, Irving ISD ranked No. 1 in highest salaries paid to teachers with 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of experience.
Among the districts surveyed were McKinney, Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth, Keller, Coppell, Lewisville and Denton.
Teachers with 10 years of experience in Irving ISD earn a salary of $63,763 while teachers with 20 years of experience earn $66,448. Teachers with 30 years of experience earn $73,423.
Additionally, the district takes care of its employees through increased contributions to health insurance. School districts in Texas are required to contribute a minimum of $225 per employee for health insurance. Irving ISD contributes $386 a month to employees to help offset out-of-pocket costs for teachers and staff. That equates to $4,632 per year.
“To attract and retain the best talent, you must offer competitive salaries. There is just no way around it,” says Irving ISD Superintendent Magda Hernandez. “Teachers are our greatest asset to ensure that our students excel. I believe in financially taking care of our teachers as does our Board of Trustees. I am grateful for their support as we strive to be the best district in the nation.”
