Irving Police Makes Arrest in Murder of 8 year old

The Irving Police Department has arrested and charged 29-year-old Codie McCrory and his girlfriend, 30-year-old Leslie Curtis, both on the charge of Capital Murder in the murder of her son, 8-year-old Delmor Best-Curtis. On Friday, January 8, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Irving Officers were dispatched to an unconscious person call in the 100 block of W. State Highway 183 (Magnuson Hotel). Upon arrival, officers found Delmor lying on the bed unresponsive, began CPR and quickly noticed numerous injuries to Delmor. Irving Fire transported Delmor to Children's Hospital in Dallas, where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is still in the early stages, but revealed that Codie and Leslie had been violently abusing Delmor for at least ten days. Leslie and Codie have been in a relationship for less than one year. Leslie and Delmor moved into the Magnuson Hotel with Codie in November 2020. Delmor was not attending school. The Irving Police Department wants to remind everyone that if anyone suspects or has concerns of abuse or neglect of a child, they should contact their local law enforcement agency or Child Protective Services at (800) 252-5400. Irving Police Department’s Family Advocacy Center works in partnership with Child Protective Services to provide information, referrals, and counseling services to crime victims.
