Irving Mayor Corporate Award of Excellence goes to Frito-Lay

The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce hosted the 40th Annual State of the City virtual program on January 14th. During the program, the highly coveted Mayor’s Corporate Award of Excellence award was announced. This award, selected by Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer, recognizes a company that exemplifies excellence in the work it does, the services it offers, the contributions it makes to the community and the commitment it provides to the City of Irving and its residents.

his year’s recipient is Frito-Lay, the convenient foods business unit of PepsiCo and manufacturer of some of the most popular and high-quality snack products available in the marketplace today. The company, which has a large presence in Irving, has undergone an expansion of its facility located at 701 North Wildwood Drive. Over the last three years the company has invested $245 million and created more than 300 new employment opportunities. Frito-Lay was selected for this honor for their economic commitment, as well as community and environmental stewardship in Irving. The Irving facility sends less than one percent of its waste to the landfill and leverages improved LED lighting technology, waste heat recovery and compressed natural gas.

“The leadership we continue to see from our business industry in Irving-Las Colinas is incredible. Frito-Lay’s efforts providing quality products while caring for our community and its valuable natural resources exemplifies world-class innovation. We’re proud they continue to call Irving home,” said Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer. “Congratulations to Frito-Lay on an honor well-deserved.”

“For more than 50 years, Frito-Lay has been a proud member of the Irving community employing more than 740 dedicated associates, and engaged in local efforts supporting people and growth,” said Laura Maxwell, SVP, Supply Chain, PepsiCo Foods North America. “We are honored to receive this award and we are grateful for the continued support of Mayor Rick Stopfer and the City of Irving.”
