Irving Student Video Contest Encourages Safe Driving For Teens

In honor of Teen Driver Safety Awareness Week, Oct. 17-23, Irving high school students are encouraged to create a short video to promote safe driving habits. Videos must be 30 to 90 seconds in length and can be submitted online. Cash prizes will be awarded and winning videos will be posted on the Irving Parks and Recreation Facebook page. Deadline to enter is Oct. 9.

To be eligible, students must be an Irving resident enrolled in grades 9-12. Irving homeschool students also are eligible, as are nonresident students that attend a public or private school within Irving city limits.

Winners will be announced at this year's Teen Driver Safety Fair and Luncheon, scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at Lively Pointe Youth Center, 909 N. O'Connor Road. Participants will enjoy a free lunch and receive valuable information from safe driving experts and guest speakers who will share personal stories of impaired driving. Presented by AAA-Texas and Irving Parks and Recreation, this event is open to the public; advanced registration is required.
