Irving Police have deployed extra resources to MacArthur High School to maintain a safe environment for all.
MacArthur students walked out today to protest.
Unable to confirm yet, but some online postings say that the students are protesting the mistreatment of two teachers for supporting LGBT.
According to one source, two teachers were removed due to supporting a LGBTQIA club by putting a label to show that their classroom is a safe place for them. The principal instructed the teachers to take down the labels because the whole school is a safe place. The teachers refused to take down the labels.
Students were upset after learning the two teachers had been disciplined for their stand.
The Irving ISD provided the following statement, "Irving ISD is aware of the walk out protest that is currently taking place at MacArthur High School. All students are safe."

Irving ISD issued the following statement, "“We value each student and strive to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for every student, employee and family. To ensure that all students feel safe regardless of background or identity, the district has developed guidelines to ensure that posters, banners and stickers placed in classrooms, hallways or offices are curriculum driven and neutral in viewpoint.”
