Irving Drivers To Be Impacted By Coppell's Belt Line Road Project

The City of Coppell will start a multiyear reconstruction of Belt Line Road, from Interstate Highway 635 (IH-635) to Denton Tap Road. This project is expected to impact traffic on Belt Line near the Irving-Coppell border, as well as IH-635 and nearby streets.

On Monday, Oct. 18, initial work begins: Belt Line Road, north of IH-635, will experience various lane closures for approximately four weeks. In mid-November, all northbound lanes of Belt Line will be closed, and traffic will move to one lane in each direction in the southbound lanes. The full project is expected to run 16 months, weather permitting. The City of Coppell has a dedicated web page for updates on this project.

Coppell advises motorists to seek alternate routes and expect travel delays. Drivers are encouraged to use IH-635/S. Royal, IH-635/Freeport Parkway and MacArthur Boulevard to avoid construction.

The City of Coppell recommends its  real-time travel information Twitter account for accurate travel information and updates. Updates also will be sent through Coppell's website by  subscribing to its NotifyMe feature and selecting S. Belt Line Road Reconstruction.
