Irving Ranked #2 Most Diverse City In America By Preply Study

A study was completed to identify where diversity is increasing the most in the United States.  Preply analyzed Census Bureau data to analyze changes in four key factors (Racial distribution, Multiracial identity, Bilingual identity, Foreign born residents), across 300 of the largest US cities to rank the most and least increasingly diverse cities in the U.S.

According to this study, Irving, TX ranks as the #2 most increasingly diverse city in America.

Irving scored 39 out of 50 possible points, up 13 points from 26 in 2010. Those points were spread across the four categories as follows:

  • Racial distribution: The most represented race (white) made up less than 50% of the population, down from 61% in 2010.
  • Multiracial: 3% of the population is multiracial. Though this might not seem significant, it is an increase from 2010’s 2%.
  • Foreign-born: 38% of Irving residents are foreign-born, an increase from the 33% who were foreign-born in 2010.
  • Bilingual: 35% of residents are bilingual, up from 25% in 2010
