Irving Trivia Contest Won By Friends Of The Irving Museums Team

The 15th Celebrating Irving: The City and The Man held their annual Irving Trivia Contest on April 9. Teams competed with their knowledge of Washington Irving, America’s First Man of Letters, and the City of Irving’s history. Marie Raym, editor of The Burb, served as emcee during this friendly battle to claim the large trophy and bragging rights, as well as other prizes. The event started with the audience participating in their own individual trivia contest and soon learned it could be helpful to answer questions as a team instead.

Teams representing The Talking Dead, Irving Public Library, Irving Shape Up Group, and Friends of the Irving Museums competed in person for the first time in two years. The Talking Dead utilized their “saved” points which took them to the finals against the Friends of the Irving Museums. The final winners were on the Friends of the Irving Museums team and consisted of Judy Pierson, Jimmy Bellew, Tim Fooks, and Mark Zeske.

The month-long celebration is held to raise the level of knowledge about the City of Irving and Washington Irving, all the while having fun in doing so. It is sponsored by the Irving Heritage Society, Irving Public Library, Irving Independent School District, Irving Black Arts Council, Irving Art Association, City of Irving and the Texas Bluebonnet Arts and Craft Group.
