University of Dallas Announces Organizational Changes to Strengthen Relationships and the Rome Program

As it begins a new fiscal year, the University of Dallas is pleased to announce organizational changes designed to strengthen relationships with the broad range of university stakeholders, and the addition of a new leadership position for the 52-year-old Rome Program.

Effective June 15, the Office of Personal and Career Development and the Office of Corporate Engagement will join the newly reorganized and renamed Office of Development and University Relations, which will also include Alumni, Parent and Donor Relations, Development, Advancement Services, and University Events, under the leadership of Vice President for Development and University Relations, Kris Muñoz Vetter.

Additionally, on the university’s Eugene Constantin Campus in Rome, Italy, Associate Professor of Theology Ron Rombs, Ph.D., will take on the role of associate dean and associate director of the campus. As an administrator, Rombs will have primary responsibilities in the Office of Student Affairs and Campus Ministry, along with subordinate responsibilities in academic, fiscal, legal, safety and related activities.

The newly reorganized Development and University Relations team will serve to deepen connections with and among the many stakeholders of the University of Dallas, including alumni, parents, friends of the university, foundations, community and corporate partners, faculty and staff, as well as the National Alumni Board and the Board of Trustees.

President Jonathan J. Sanford said such engagement is imperative for the university’s long-term aspirations: “Strengthening old relationships and fostering new ones with alumni, friends, the business community, and other institutional partners in a manner that builds upon the distinctive excellence of the education that we provide is critical to our strategy of creating more opportunities for our students and alumni, nurturing the broader community with the riches we provide, and realizing more fully our standing as the premier Catholic liberal arts university in this nation.”

“The University of Dallas offers remarkable intellectual and cultural resources to our community. By nourishing meaningful connections and opportunities for engagement between our constituents and the University, the new Office of Development and University Relations aims to build on the vibrant sense of community that has distinguished UD since its founding,” said Muñoz Vetter. “For me, this organization and name best reflects our philosophy of building substantive engagement and deep relationships as the foundation for President Sanford’s bold vision for UD’s future.”

Peter Hatlie, Ph.D., Vice President, Dean and Director of the Rome Campus, said of Rombs’ appointment, “Ron has been a tremendous asset as both a theology professor and as director of our Summer Rome Program for the past several years. I'm excited to work with him to ensure that UD Rome continues to offer a superb and indeed life-changing educational experience to future students.”
