A man attempting to cross SH 183 on foot was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler yesterday. The accident happened arround 3:30 am on SH 183 between Beltline and Esters Road in Irving. The victim was running south across the westbound lanes when he was hit by the truck.
Irving Police shut down the westbound lanes for most of the morning causing a massive traffic jam for early morning commuters.
An investigation is underway and Irving Police did not provide any further details.
