The Cardinals gave it all they had, but lost 52-51 when Plano West's Mike Groselle made two free-throws with 5.6 seconds to go.
"Give credit to Plano West, they hung in there when it looked very dim for them. That young man stepped up and made two huge free-throws," said coach Hamrick
The Cardinals were lead by Jamar Halton and Rickey Scott who scored 16 and 15 points respectively.
Mac coach Stephen Hamrick provided the following statement to Irving Weekly on the overall season, "I was so proud of our guy’s effort and the mental toughness that they displayed not only last Tuesday night but the entire year. It is never easy when you pour your heart and soul into a game like that and you can just about taste victory and you come up a little short. Our guy's competed extremely hard against a very good team. We are so proud of them. We are thrilled about the year that we had. We won twenty games, competed in arguabley the best district in the state, got in the state play-offs, had a state ranked team on the ropes, we were very fortunate this season. This group has raised the bar. We hope the success that we had will motivate us even more for the years to come."
The Cardinals should be able to compete next year as several of their key players will be back as seniors including guards Darius Anderson and Rickey Scott
