Irving residents can celebrate Asian culture during the 13th annual DFW Dragon Boat and Lantern Festival Oct. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Las Colinas Urban Center along the shores of Lake Carolyn.
The shores will be filled with exciting dragon boat races, cultural performances, a lantern festival, traditional Asian cuisine, arts and crafts and more will be available for attendees to enjoy. The dragon boat races include costume competitions, such as the best dragon drummer. Dragon boat racing originated in China more than 2,000 years ago and is a growing sporting phenomenon across the United States. The festival is hosted by the Marco Polo World Foundation.
