Chamberlain University's Irving Campus Graduates First Students in the Practice Ready Specialty Focused Program

Pat Perryman, DNP, RN, CNE, BCPA, president, Chamberlain University Irving Campus, is so proud of the nine students who recently graduated from the Practice Ready. Specialty Focused.™(PRSF) perioperative nursing program.

These Bachelor of Science (BSN) students from Chamberlain University campus completed the PRSF program as part of their nursing education. This specialty program is being funded by a $1.2M grant from the American Nurses Foundation (ANF) to help build a pipeline of prepared nurses to enter the workforce practice-ready and to be able to contribute to the shortage of nurses in perioperative nursing, a specialty where nurses work with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and advanced practice providers to care for patients before, during and after surgical procedures.

Through an exclusive partnership with the Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and clinical partners at these local sites -- Baylor Scott & White: Frisco, Carrollton Regional, Dallas Regional Medical Center, First Baptist Medical, Methodist Health System: Charlton, Midlothian, Richardson, Texas Health Resources: Arlington, Southwest, Ft. Worth -- these BSN students completed 15 online Introduction to Perioperative Nursing (IPN) co-curricular modules, facilitated by a college essay writing serviceand a precepted 96-hour practicum in a perioperative setting. Students earned a digital badge upon successful completion of the IPN modules. This badge can be presented to healthcare systems/potential employers during the hiring process as a certification of knowledge and/or skills gained above and beyond traditional coursework.
