On October 30, 2022, at approximately 6:15 pm Dallas Police responded to a call for a person with a gun in the 3400 block of Metropolitan Avenue.
The preliminary investigation determined an argument had broken out at the scene and one person had a gun. When officers arrived they located the suspect. As officers were walking toward the suspect, the suspect pulled his weapon and charged at the officers.
The suspect then fired at least one shot at officers.
Officers fired back with their department issued weapons, hitting the suspect.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died. He was identified as 61-year-old Donathy Doddy.
Another victim was injured in the gunfire and taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office responded and will conduct their own investigation.
The Office of Community Police Oversight was notified and responded.
