The Rockwall County Sheiff's Office said today that a deputy was involved in a pursuit at approximately 8:03 a.m.

The pursuit began when the deputy attempted to stop a vehicle that was reported stolen out of the Grand Prairie Police Department.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Horizon and FM 549.

Prior to the end of the pursuit a passenger in the vehicle exited the vehicle while it was still moving at high speed. The passenger was transported to a trauma center in Plano.

After crashing the vehicle, the driver exited the vehicle and fled west of FM 549. When the driver exited the vehicle, he was armed with a handgun but discarded it approximately 50 yards from the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody shortly after the deployment of a Taser by the pursuing deputy.

The driver has been identified as 29-year-old Andrew Diamante Solis of Grand Prairie Texas and the passenger as a 24-year-old female.

Deputies recovered the handgun and drug contraband at the scene.
