One Dead In Fiery Garland Crash Involving Two 18-wheelers

The Garland Police Department has released additional information regarding yesterday’s serious crash involving two semi trucks.

On Nov. 1, at 4:50 am, Garland Police and Fire/EMS responded to the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Zion Road for a crash involving two 18-wheelers.

Police say an 18-wheeler had stopped on the righthand shoulder of the highway when a second 18-wheeler clipped the back end of the truck. The collision caused the second 18-wheeler to spin out of control, hit a retaining wall, and burst into flames.

According to a WFAA story, a good samaritan helped two escape.

The driver and passenger of the second 18-wheeler were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The passenger died as a result of their injuries. The driver is said to be in stable condition.

Westbound lanes of Interstate 30 were closed for nearly 12 hours due to extensive clean up from the vehicle fire and crash investigation. Police say the burning truck was hauling plastic pallets.

The crash remains under investigation.
