The Carrollton Police Department has announced an arrest from the October crash that killed a mother and injured several of her children.

The crash occurred back on October 24th at the intersection of Marsh Lane and Dove Creek in Carrollton. Emergency responders were called to the scene of the crash and located two vehicles with significant damage.

Officials determined a driver was traveling at high speeds on Marsh Lane when they struck an SUV occupied by multiple people. A 43-year-old woman in the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. Five of her eight children inside the vehicle were also injured.

The driver at fault ran away on foot immediately after the crash. The Carrollton Police Department worked with the U.S. Marshal’s Service Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force and determined the suspect was hiding in an apartment in Lewisville. Detectives took him into custody Monday at the Lewisville apartment complex after a short foot chase.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Brayan De La Rosa, has been charged with a total of 12 felonies: Manslaughter (1), Accident Involving Death (1), Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury (1), Accident Involving Injury (4), Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (5).
