The Royse City Police Department is currently working a homicide at a residence in the Bloomfield Homes at Stone River community. The deceased is an adult female, and she has children that attend RCISD schools.
As officers were attempting to secure the scene, they received information that someone was trying to check the victim's children out of their schools. Out of an abundance of caution, the police department requested that the school district restrict access to their campuses. The school district went into a soft lockdown where visitors were not allowed on campus.
When RCPD Officers were able to secure the children and gather more information at the scene, the soft lockdown was quickly lifted.
Officials ensure everyone that there is no threat to any school campus.
Royse City Police were able to share the suspect vehicle information with surrounding agencies, and a suspect is in custody.
