Parker County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Saturday evening for impersonating an officer.
Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said the Sheriff’s Telecommunications Center received a be-on-the-look-out (BOLO), around 9 p.m., Feb. 18, referencing a suspicious blue Dodge pickup with front-facing blue and red emergency lights mounted on the truck’s dashboard, attempting to pull a vehicle over in the 1500-Block of Newsom Mound Road.
The victim reported he was apprehensive about an unmarked dually truck which was following his vehicle closely in an unsafe manner. He further reported the driver of the truck was flashing emergency lights from inside the truck, while attempting to cut him off of the roadway and block his vehicle from leaving the area.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and identified the suspect as Luciano Amador Velazquez, 42, of Parker County.
Velazquez told deputies he activated his lights when he did not agree with the victim’s driving, and used the lights in previous incidents with other drivers to “make people drive better.”
Velazquez was arrested and booked into the Parker County Jail for impersonation of a public servant.
Sheriff Authier said impersonating a peace officer is a felony offense.
“The victim in this case did the right thing by immediately reporting the incident to law enforcement,” said Sheriff Authier.
