On Monday, March 13, 2023 around 7 p.m., Mansfield Officers responded to Katherine Rose Memorial Park in reference to a large crowd. Officers estimated at least 1,000 people were at the park.
As officers attempted to disperse the crowd, officers reported hearing gunshots. The shots caused a panic and attendees to flee the park into surrounding neighborhoods and streets. Officers have collected some evidence, including bullet casings, at the park to indicate there was a shooting.
No one was shot.
The park was subsequently cleared.
Multiple agencies assisted to disperse the crowd and no officers were injured. The investigation is still ongoing. If anyone has any information or tips, please contact Sgt. Hale at cody.hale@mansfieldtexas.gov.
