The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement on the attempt to close the Temptations Cabaret in Aledo, Texas:
Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn and District Attorney Phil Sorrells are pleased to announce that after years of answering calls for service, making arrests, participating in special details and performing investigations, they are finally gaining traction on closing down Temptations Cabaret in west Tarrant County.
This week, the State of Texas filed a public nuisance lawsuit against the establishment which, if approved, would allow for the permanent closure of the club.
“As District Attorney, I am concerned about the escalation of criminal activities at Temptations Cabaret constituting a nuisance,” said District Attorney Phil Sorrells. “That is why I filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking injunctive relief to curtail the menace that is Temptations.”
“My number one priority is keeping our community safe. Allowing Temptations to continue its operation is counterintuitive to this goal.”
From 2020 through 2022, there have been more than 200 calls for service at Temptations. The crimes responded to by law enforcement range from murder to discharging a firearm in a public place to possession of a controlled substance. Action is long past due to bring this influx of crime to an end.
“Temptations is a blight on the community as well as all of Tarrant County,” said Sheriff Bill Waybourn. “Closing its doors will provide relief to the surrounding area from the criminal element Temptations attracts.”
