Nickerson had been the assistant head coach at Flower Mound High School for the last three years and replaces David Munoz at Irving High.  Munoz stepped down at Irving High this past April after two seasons and will take a job on staff as an assistant at a yet to be named DFW program. Irving's football team finished 2021 with a 2-8 record and 1-9 in 2022.

"Coach Nickerson will be missed at FMHS! Such a positive influence on our players and students. Congratulations Coach!", tweeted @FlowerMoundHS

"A great coach and even better man. Proud of you…Irving HS hit a home run! Thank you for all you have done for the Jaguars!", tweeted current Flower Mount High School Coach and former MacArthur Head Coach, Brian Basil.

Coach Nickerson is a 2005 graduate of MacArthur High School in Irving and played defensive back for Texas Tech.  He coached at MacArthur from 2013 to 2020 as the defensive coordinator, special teams coach and head track coach.
