At approximately 1:20 pm on July 25, 2024, undercover officers operating in the 9600 block of Golf Lakes Trail in the Vickery Meadow area identified a stolen vehicle through a Flock camera alert. Covert officers located the vehicle within an apartment complex and requested uniformed officers for assistance.
Upon arrival, uniformed officers discovered the vehicle occupied. The driver, upon seeing the squad car, accelerated and collided with two marked patrol vehicles. In response, uniformed officers discharged their firearms. One male suspect was shot and transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to survive. No officers sustained injuries.
Two additional suspects were apprehended at the scene. One of them sustained injuries and was also taken to a local hospital in stable condition. A fourth suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were armed, with three firearms recovered from the scene. One suspect in custody was found to have an active Dallas murder warrant.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight have been informed. The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE: On July 25, 2024, Dallas Police arrested 19-year-old Deantae Moore on two Capital Murder warrants related to a double homicide on Dixon Avenue in March 2024.
On July 25, 2024, Dallas Police charged 21-year-old Damon Price with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, two counts of Aggravated Assault Public Servant, Evading Detention on Foot and a probation violation for Manufacture or Delivery of Substance.
17-year-old Eric Lampkin-Scarborough remains hospitalized in stable condition. He will be charged with Prohibited Weapon and Evading Detention on Foot.
Detectives continue to work to identify the fourth suspect and take him into custody. There is no suspect description at this time.
