$1.2 billion in stimulus funding includes three projects in Irving

The Texas Department of Transportation unveiled their strategy to spend $1.2 billion in stimulus funding on road construction during a recent Texas Transportation Commission workshop session. The strategy is intended to both leverage local resources and create jobs across the state. The released list of construction projects also included maintenance and preservation projects. The Texas Transportation Commission passed the $1.2 billion staff recommended which was created by applying criteria developed by the state's local transportation leaders to an extensive list of projects that met the initial requirements for readiness established in the stimulus bill.    
 
Three items included on this list have an Irving impact and are identified below:
Projects:
- DFW Connector - SH 121/SH 114 (residual impact)
Maintenance:
- Resurface Roadway - SH 114 Spur 348 to O'Connor Blvd. (April 2009)
- Resurface Roadway - SH 114 Freeport Pkwy. to Spur 348 (April 2009)
