State Fair of Texas Announces Sixth Year of Sensory Friendly Mornings

For the sixth consecutive year, the State Fair of Texas will host Sensory Friendly Mornings on October 2, 9, and 16 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. This initiative aims to provide a family-friendly environment by accommodating sensory-related concerns across the fairgrounds.

In collaboration with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and local organizations, the Fair has designed a special itinerary featuring activities and exhibits that are gentle on the eyes and ears. A guided itinerary is available at BigTex.com/Sensory.

During these mornings, the Midway will operate with reduced lights and sounds from noon to 1:30 pm in designated "Quiet Zones" to help visitors decompress. The usual lights and sounds will resume at 1:30 pm.

On October 2, the Fair will partner with Joni and Friends Texas, a nonprofit supporting individuals with disabilities. Registered families will receive a volunteer buddy for added support. Interested families and volunteers can register at Joni and Friends at the State Fair, Texas 2024 | Joni and Friends.

Wednesdays are also the best discount day at the Fair, with a $5 admission for those who donate five canned food items to the North Texas Food Bank.
