On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at approximately 1:04 p.m., Killeen Police officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 2200 block of Botanical Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Octavion Keshun Tucker suffering from a gunshot wound. Tucker was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:03 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey.
The Killeen Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division quickly took over the case, treating it as a homicide. Detectives identified Jacorri Zahary Stevenson, a resident of Austin, as a suspect. A murder complaint was filed with the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, and Justice of the Peace Nicola James issued a warrant for Stevenson’s arrest.
On Saturday, September 21, 2024, Stevenson was located and arrested in Austin by Killeen Robbery-Homicide detectives. He was transported to the Killeen City Jail, where Justice of the Peace Nicola James arraigned him and set his bond at $1,000,000. Stevenson was subsequently transferred to the Bell County Jail.
