A high-speed pursuit involving the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Mansfield Police Department, and State Troopers concluded in tragedy at the intersection of SH 360 and Broad Street. The chase began in Mansfield when a suspect was observed driving the wrong way on the highway. A Mansfield officer attempted to stop the suspect's vehicle to prevent a head-on collision with another car, but the suspect accelerated and fled.
During the pursuit, the suspect fired multiple shots at officers, deputies, and their patrol units as they navigated through Johnson and Tarrant Counties. The pursuit ultimately ended with the suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
