Officers arrived five minutes later and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, who was the only occupant, briefly complied before fleeing the scene and brandishing a firearm at officers.

A vehicle pursuit ensued, during which the suspect fired multiple shots at officers. Mansfield police returned fire but did not strike the suspect. The chase crossed into Johnson County, reaching Burleson, before returning to Mansfield. The pursuit ended when the suspect rear-ended another vehicle on the westbound lanes of the 3400 block of E Broad St, near the SH 360 overpass. After the crash, the suspect took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot while still inside the vehicle.

Mansfield Fire and Rescue pronounced the suspect dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among officers or civilians. The Texas Rangers and the Mansfield Police Department are investigating the incident, while Internal Affairs is conducting an administrative investigation. The identity of the suspect will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after notifying the next of kin. Further details are still under investigation.
