On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Haltom City Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in progress at a business located in the 5900 block of Airport Freeway. The victim observed a vehicle dropping off a male suspect, who then entered the victim's Chevrolet Avalanche. When the victim attempted to confront the suspect, he fled the scene, with a pistol reportedly inside the vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, Haltom City Police officers located the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect refused to yield, leading to a brief pursuit. The chase escalated when the suspect struck another vehicle near 3100 Yucca Avenue but continued on until colliding with a parked vehicle in the 2800 block of Yucca Avenue in Fort Worth. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
With assistance from the Fort Worth Police Department, officers apprehended the suspect in the backyard of a residence on Primrose Avenue. During the foot pursuit, the suspect discarded the firearm, which was later recovered by Fort Worth Police.
The suspect is currently undergoing medical evaluation at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the incident. At this time, he is believed to be the only individual injured related to the events.
The identity of the suspect and any potential charges will be disclosed following his arraignment by the magistrate.
