In a tragic case, 47-year-old Dameian Beal has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder of his father, Price Beal Sr., who was found dead in his Oak Cliff apartment on August 3, 2018.
The investigation, led by the Dallas Police Department, began when officers responded to a call from the victim’s brother, who discovered the gruesome scene at the 4100 block of S. Cockrell Hill Road. Upon arrival, detectives uncovered a blood trail leading to the bathroom, where blood droplets were found on various surfaces, indicating a violent struggle.
Detectives suspected that the assailant might have sustained injuries during the attack, given the nature of the blood spatter. The investigation took a turn when it was revealed that Dameian Beal had an argument with his father the day before the murder.
On August 8, 2018, an undercover detective located Dameian at The Roadway Inn Motel in Duncanville. Following a conversation with his mother, he was brought to police headquarters for questioning. During the interview, Dameian claimed to have visited his father’s apartment on the morning of the murder but insisted he left shortly after and only learned of his father's death from his mother.
Detectives noticed several cuts on Dameian's hands during the interview. Despite requests for a DNA sample, he refused. Evidence collected from his hotel room later proved critical. A DNA analysis revealed a match between blood found on the shower handle in the victim’s apartment and samples taken from towels in Dameian's motel room.
As the investigation progressed, witness testimonies and DNA evidence confirmed Dameian’s involvement. It was determined that he had used a kitchen knife to slice the throat of his father.
On September 6, 2024, Dameian Beal was found guilty in a Dallas County courtroom after accepting a plea deal. He now faces a lengthy prison sentence for the brutal act that ended the life of a 72-year-old grandfather.
