Significant Road Closures Announced for Arlington's Southeast Connector Project

The City of Arlington is providing weekly updates on the Texas Department of Transportation's Southeast Connector Project, a significant $2.1 billion initiative that will rebuild and widen approximately 11 miles of I-20, I-820, and US 287 over the next few years. Residents can stay informed about construction activity and potential impacts on their commutes each Friday.

To receive direct updates via text or email, residents can add their contact information on the Southeast Connector Project website. Once completed, the project aims to connect the eastern and southeastern parts of Tarrant County to the central region, alleviating congestion and enhancing safety and efficiency across the Metroplex.

Upcoming Road Closures and Detours:

  • Eastbound I-20 Interchange Ramp to Southbound US 287:
    Closed from 9 p.m. Sept. 27 through 9 a.m. Sept. 29. Traffic will detour to US 287 and Little Road to Green Oaks Boulevard.

  • Business 287 Entrance to I-820:
    Closed from 9 p.m. Sept. 29 to 6 a.m. Oct. 6. Traffic will detour to Sun Valley Drive.

  • Northbound US 287 at Sublett Road:
    Reduced to one lane through Oct. 12 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Northbound I-820 at Ramey Avenue:
    Reduced to one lane through Oct. 6 between Ramey Ave. and Rosedale St.

  • Westbound I-20 at I-820:
    Closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Sept. 28.

  • Eastbound I-20 at Anglin Drive:
    Reduced to two lanes between Anglin Drive and I-820 through Dec. 20 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Southbound US 287 at Little Road:
    Reduced to one lane through Sept. 30 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Northbound I-820 at Martin Street:
    Right lane closed through Sept. 30 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Residents are advised that closures may change due to weather and scheduling. Note that speed limits have been reduced to 55 mph throughout the entire corridor.
