A person has died following a one-alarm house fire in Roanoke on Friday, October 4. The Roanoke Fire Department received the emergency call at 8:45 AM, with the first engine arriving just minutes later at 8:50 AM.
Neighbors reported a fire at a residence in the 400 block of Ashley Lane, but it was initially unclear if anyone was inside. The caller indicated that the fire had rapidly spread throughout much of the home within seconds. Upon arrival, Roanoke Engine 662 found the house fully engulfed in flames and immediately initiated a fire attack.
Mutual aid was requested, and firefighters from Keller, Southlake, Trophy Club, and Westlake Fire Departments responded to assist in battling the blaze.
A 44-year-old man, who was not home at the time the fire started, returned to find the residence in flames. The Roanoke Fire Department is coordinating with the Roanoke Police Victim Assistance team and the Red Cross to support the displaced resident.
Ashley Lane between Richy and Randy remained closed throughout the investigation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Roanoke Fire Department and the Tarrant County Fire Investigation Association. The name and age of the deceased will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner after positive identification and full notification of next of kin.
