Aries Jones, 31, was found guilty of murder on October 3, 2024, for his role in the shooting death of a victim outside the OT Tavern in Dallas on March 18, 2022.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. after Jones and his associates left Bar 3606. An altercation broke out on Greenville Avenue & Martel when Jones swung at one of the victim's friends, leading to a chaotic fight involving multiple individuals from both groups. After the fight, which ended without immediate injuries, Jones and his group entered a waiting Uber.

Less than a minute later, as the victim and his friends walked back to their car, the Uber drove up Martel Avenue. Two individuals fired 13 shots from the vehicle, striking the victim in the head. He succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital.

The investigation initially focused on Kelvin Joseph, a then-Dallas Cowboy player present during the incident. As the investigation progressed, video footage of the shooting was released, leading to information about those with Joseph. Jones and Tivione English eventually turned themselves in and provided statements, claiming self-defense.

Jones was sentenced to 45 years in prison following his conviction.
