On October 28, 2024, at approximately 7:53 p.m., Aubrey Police responded to a welfare check at a residence on the 11100 block of Canyon Oaks Street in the Silverado Community. Family members had reported concerns after 71-year-old Mary Inez Jacinto failed to answer calls and messages.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact at the front door without success. In the backyard, officers encountered 24-year-old Adrian Joe Padilla, a resident and family member of Jacinto. After detaining Padilla, officers discovered Jacinto deceased in the backyard.
Padilla was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Denton County Sheriff’s Office jail, where he was charged with Capital Murder and Tampering/Fabricating Evidence with intent to impair a human corpse.
