On October 30, 2024, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Executive Committee imposed penalties on Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy's girls basketball program and coaching staff following an investigation into recruiting violations and player transfer misconduct.
Head Coach Andrea Robinson, alongside assistant coaches Kadi Creel and Jordan Jones, received a two-year suspension from all UIL activities, a subsequent two-year probation, and a public reprimand. Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy itself was sanctioned with a three-year probation period, a one-year suspension from postseason play for the girls basketball team, and a public reprimand.
The UIL's actions followed a District Executive Committee (DEC) inquiry, which determined that the coaches had violated recruiting rules and withheld information on multiple player transfers. Robinson, previously a four-time state champion coach at DeSoto, joined Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in the off-season. High-profile transfers followed, including five-star forward Amari Byles and four-star guard Amayah Garcia, both former DeSoto players under Robinson. Additionally, four-star forward Joy Egbuna from Mansfield Lake Ridge, four-star point guard Finley Chastain from Montverde Academy, and sisters Milania, Gianna, Natalia, and Nadia Jordan from Southlake Carroll also transferred to the academy.
The UIL prohibits transfers conducted for athletic advantage, leading to these disciplinary measures to maintain the integrity of high school athletics.
