In the State House District 105 race, incumbent Democrat Terry Meza secured re-election, defeating Republican challenger Rose Cannaday. Meza received 22,550 votes (54.64%) compared to Cannaday’s 18,722 votes (45.36%).
Following the victory, Meza expressed her gratitude, stating, “The final election results for Texas House District 105 are now in, and we have won! I am honored and grateful to the people of this community for giving me the opportunity to serve them in the Texas Legislature. I will work every day to reward the trust you have placed in me. I commend my opponent for running a spirited campaign.”
Meza also thanked her campaign team and supporters, emphasizing the campaign’s focus on issues like affordable healthcare, COVID-19 response, public education, and economic security. She highlighted her plans to start preparing for the upcoming legislative session, which begins in two months. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris endorsed Meza during the campaign.
The 105th district of the Texas House of Representatives consists of the majority of the city of Irving.
