The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office announced that Ryan Willrich, 32, has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
The conviction stems from a May 31, 2020, shooting at Griff's Hamburgers on East Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth. Willrich accompanied his girlfriend to meet her ex-partner, Sean Darrius Woodberry, 27, to transfer custody of the child she shared with Woodberry.
As Woodberry approached the driver's side of the vehicle, Willrich, seated in the passenger seat, fatally shot him in the chest. Another man at the scene was also shot in the neck and transported to JPS Hospital for treatment. The child was in the backseat of the vehicle during the incident.
The Fort Worth Police Department conducted the investigation, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Lloyd Whelchel and Rose Anna Salinas. Jose Fonseca served as the DA investigator, and Cecilia Jones provided support as the victim coordinator.
