The Denton Police Department has arrested 27-year-old King Marsayis Killebrew-Stephens of Fort Worth for Murder following an investigation into the fentanyl overdose death of 35-year-old Tyler Blevins-Stafford.
On July 25, Denton officers and fire personnel responded to an unconscious person call at an apartment in the 1100 block of N. Bell Avenue. Despite life-saving efforts, Blevins-Stafford was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner determined Blevins-Stafford's death resulted from fentanyl toxicity.
Investigation and Arrest
Detectives identified Killebrew-Stephens as the individual who sold fentanyl pills to Blevins-Stafford before his death. On November 19th, 2024, Denton PD, assisted by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, arrested Killebrew-Stephens on a Murder warrant in the 4000 block of Norma Lane in Fort Worth. He is being held in the City of Denton Jail, with bail pending.
This marks the fourth fentanyl-related Murder arrest this year and the seventh in Denton since the implementation of a Texas law on September 1, 2023, making it a criminal offense of Murder to supply fentanyl resulting in death.
Killebrew-Stephens’ arrest is unrelated to the fentanyl murder case that resulted in an indictment on Tuesday.
