Texas DPS in Parker County worked two different fatal accidents this past week involving Mineral Wells women.

Wednesday Morning Crash
Just before 7:30 a.m. on November 20, Weatherford Fire Department, Parker County ESD 7, PCHD EMS, and law enforcement responded to a fatal crash in the 3500 block of Mineral Wells Highway (U.S. 180) near Moss Lane.

A Kia Soul, reportedly speeding, lost control and struck the rear of a truck, causing the Kia to overturn. The driver, 34-year-old Stephany Ellen Whitton of Mineral Wells, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. The passenger, 39-year-old Evan Whitton, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Traffic lanes were closed as Texas DPS investigated the accident.

Sunday Evening Pedestrian Fatality
On November 17, another fatal incident occurred along Mineral Wells Highway at the 4700 block near Old Mineral Wells Highway. Around 6:15 p.m., 39-year-old Kimilee Amanda McKinzey of Mineral Wells was struck by a Chrysler van while standing in the center median.

McKinzey’s vehicle had become disabled in the right lane, prompting her to exit. The van, driven by Martin Bagwell, attempted to avoid slowed traffic but struck McKinzey during evasive maneuvers. She was pronounced dead on the scene due to blunt force injuries.

A HopeFundMe page has been created to support Kimilee (Kimi) McKinzey's husband and children during this difficult time.

Bagwell and his passenger were uninjured. Texas DPS is continuing its investigation into both accidents.
