A Dallas County jury found Abraham Gonzalez, Jr., guilty of terroristic threatening on November 14, 2024, stemming from threats he made as a high school student at Uplift Grand Preparatory in Grand Prairie, Texas.
On February 1, 2022, Gonzalez threatened to kill his classmates while in the school's cafeteria, located at 300 E. Church St. Within 15 minutes of making the threat, he reportedly asked two classmates for a gun. Shortly after, he told other students he had a "hit list." The spread of this information on social media led to widespread fear, with roughly half of the student body staying home from school.
The case was investigated by the Grand Prairie Police Department, and the prosecution team included Jonathan Grant as lead prosecutor, Dimitri Anagnostis as second chair, DA Investigator John Schingle, and DA Legal Assistant Regina Taylor.
Gonzalez was sentenced to eight years in prison, with the sentence probated for three years, meaning it will remain suspended as long as he complies with the terms of his probation.
