Weatherford Driver Arrested After Fatal Head-On Collision in Parker County

On Sunday, December 8th, at approximately 3:50 p.m., multiple emergency responders were dispatched to a serious accident along Farm to Market Road 730 near Clayton Road in Parker County. According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigators, a 21-year-old man, identified as Daniel Rascon-Sainz, was driving southbound on FM 730 when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone on a curve. In doing so, he collided head-on with a northbound SUV.

The crash resulted in significant injuries to three individuals inside the SUV. Cora May Estep, a 71-year-old woman from Azle, was pronounced deceased after being transported to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. The other two passengers, a 69-year-old woman and a 45-year-old woman, were also transported to Fort Worth hospitals with serious injuries.

Rascon-Sainz, a Weatherford resident, was arrested at the scene for Intoxication Manslaughter and two counts of Intoxication Assault. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer was requested, as Rascon-Sainz was in the country illegally. His bond has been set at $150,000.
