About Irving Police Athletic League
The Irving Police Athletic League (PAL) was incorporated in 1992 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization by volunteer police officers and private citizens. The Irving PAL aims to help "at-risk" kids develop self-esteem, discipline, and mental courage through a structured program of physical activity and exposure to positive role models. The Irving PAL is available to boys and girls ages 8-18. The primary programs are boxing, fitness, wrestling, soccer (summer), basketball (summer), and the "Urban Outdoors" program, which includes archery, camping, fishing, hunting, kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities.
The Irving PAL started the boxing program in 1992, and it is the oldest of the Irving Police Athletic League programs. The PAL boxing program produces championship boxers who consistently win state, regional, and national titles. A significant part of the boxers' success is attributed to the strong support of their parents, coaches, and peers at the Irving PAL.
