The American Heart Association has announced that the 2025 Dallas Heart Walk will take place at Levy Event Plaza in Irving-Las Colinas, marking a move from its long-standing location at Reunion Tower Lawn in downtown Dallas. Thousands of participants are expected to take part in the annual 1-mile or 5K walk along the scenic banks of Lake Carolyn.
Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer welcomed the event’s relocation, stating, "We are honored to welcome the iconic Dallas Heart Walk to our community and showcase our commitment to promoting health and wellness in our city. We look forward to seeing everyone come together with the American Heart Association to unite our community in saving lives."
Stephen Love, President and CEO of the DFW Hospital Council and board chair for the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the significance of the move. “The relocation of the Dallas Heart Walk reflects Irving-Las Colinas’ reputation as a premier destination focused on community engagement opportunities. Anchored by Lake Carolyn in the heart of Irving’s Las Colinas Urban Center, Levy Event Plaza will provide a picturesque setting that will enhance the experience for participants.”
The Dallas Heart Walk is part of a nationwide effort to combat heart disease and stroke. This year’s campaign, Heart Walk Nation of Lifesavers™, focuses on Hands-Only CPR training and awareness. Statistics show that nine out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital do not survive, often because bystander CPR is not performed. The Heart Walk raises funds to improve CPR training accessibility, increase bystander preparedness, and support critical research.
This year’s walk will take place on October 18, with participants choosing between a three-mile or one-mile route. Both begin at 9 a.m., with pre-event activities starting at 7:30 a.m. The event welcomes walkers of all ages and includes a designated area for pets.
The move to Irving also coincides with a schedule shift to October, allowing for cooler temperatures compared to previous years’ September events. The relocation was also influenced by upcoming construction in downtown Dallas. Additionally, the Tarrant County Heart Walk, typically held on the same day as the Dallas walk, will now take place separately on September 20 at The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth.
The American Heart Association encourages individuals, companies, and organizations to participate by forming Heart Walk teams and contributing to the fight against heart disease. Founded in Dallas, the nonprofit has been a leading source of health information for a century, advancing medical research and lifesaving initiatives.
