Original Post:
The Irving Police Department is searching for Alison Ramirez-Lopez, 12, who was last seen leaving her home on foot at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, February 9, to attend a birthday party but never arrived.
Alison was last seen in the 1000 block of Harlan St. in South Irving near S. Nursery Rd. She is described as 5’6”, approximately 180 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, and black shoes with a pink sole.
Authorities believe Alison may be in Alabama or a surrounding state. Due to her potential location, she does not meet the criteria for an AMBER or Athena Alert, but police are working to issue alternative alerts and have contacted law enforcement in nearby states.
Anyone with information on Alison’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.
What Is an Athena Alert?
Texas lawmakers created the Athena Alert in 2023 after the disappearance of 7-year-old Athena Strand, who was kidnapped and murdered in Wise County in 2022. Unlike an AMBER Alert, the Athena Alert can be issued when a child is missing but there is no confirmed abduction. The alert can notify people within a 100-mile radius of the disappearance.
