Bob
J. Bates, 76, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2014, after a brief
illness.
A
memorial service will be held at Plymouth
Park Baptist Church in Irving, Texas, at 1:00p.m.on Thursday, February 13,
2014. Arrangements are with Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler.
Bob
was born in Weatherford, Texas on October
10, 1937. He graduated from Wichita
Falls High School in 1956 and continued on to receive a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
Bob
was married to Beverly Morris on August 28, 1959. They were married 54 years.
After
graduating from Texas A&M University, Bob worked for American Liberty Oil
in Dallas before moving to IBM, where he was a multiple recipient of One
Hundred Percent Club awards, and Golden Circle Awards. Bob loved his church and
loved singing in the choir at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, and at
Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. He served as a Deacon at Plymouth Park,
and volunteered with The Texas Baptist Men Association.
Bo is survived by wife Beverly, Brian and his wife Julia, of
Boerne, Texas, and Barry and his wife, Melissa of Fort Collins, Colorado, and
his brother, Don T. Bates of Joy, Texas. He had four grandchildren: Graham and Corinne Bates of Boerne, Texas and
Andrew and Kathryn Bates, of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Bessie
Alma Bates of Joy, Texas.
