Senior Spotlight: Ramiah Boyd, Singley Academy

2,379 students will cross the home plate this Friday, May 20 at Globe Life Field for graduation. Ramiah Boyd will be among the students graduating from Singley Academy at 4 PM, and she describes this moment as bittersweet. While she can’t wait to embark on a new journey, she will greatly miss her time as a student at Singley.

Boyd entered Singley Academy as a part of the law program and stayed involved through Destination Imagination (DI) and the Black Student Association. Last Friday, she participated in her first graduation ceremony of the month, after earning her associate’s degree from Dallas College as part of the law program.

During her senior year, she served as president of Destination Imagination – leading the team to Globals competition this week.

“My favorite high school memory was my last Destination Imagination competition,” says Boyd. “It was so much fun, and I got a chance to bond with our team.”

In the fall, she will attend the University of North Texas as a business marketing major. Boyd heavily credits her teachers and counselor at Singley Academy for helping her prepare for college.

“Ms. Triay (law) and Ms. Molina (forensics) were very helpful when it came to evaluating different careers and if they’d be a fit for me,” she adds. “And my counselor, Ms. Solis, was always there as an outlet whenever I felt stressed or had questions.”

Boyd also says she will miss the closeness of the community at Singley Academy and of course, her friends.

“I really like this school,” says Boyd with a huge smile.

While she’s sad to leave, she’s greatly looking forward to the opportunity to be on her own and meet new people in college.
