Frisco Police: Accidental Gun Discharge Led to Bullet Striking Elementary School

The Frisco Police Department has concluded its investigation into a bullet that struck Hosp Elementary School on March 27, 2025, determining it was the result of an accidental discharge by a nearby resident.

Detectives discovered that on the morning of the incident, a female resident in the 1000 block of Gentle Wind Lane believed someone was inside her home. While searching the second floor armed with a handgun, the resident stumbled and unintentionally discharged the firearm. The single bullet traveled through an exterior wall of her home and subsequently struck Hosp Elementary.

Based on interviews and corroborating evidence, detectives found no indication that the discharge was intentional, that the school was targeted, or that any other individuals were involved. Ballistics testing confirmed that the bullet recovered from the school was fired from the resident's handgun.

Following consultation with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that the resident's actions did not meet the criteria for any offense under Texas law, and therefore, no charges will be filed.

The Frisco Police Department thanked the Frisco Independent School District and the Hosp Elementary faculty for their cooperation during the incident and investigation. They also expressed gratitude to the school's students and parents for their patience. No further information will be released regarding this incident.
