The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that followed a traffic stop involving a stolen motorcycle on Friday, May 6.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a Harley Davidson motorcycle near Main Street and South Belt Line Road for not displaying a license plate. As the officer made contact with the rider, the individual fled at a high rate of speed.
While searching the area, the officer located the motorcycle near South Belt Line and Wheat Hill Drive, where the rider had lost control on a curve and crashed. The rider was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
Investigators determined the motorcycle was reported stolen, and suspected narcotics were found with the vehicle.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after notifying next of kin. The incident remains under investigation.
